The Mortal Instruments hits mundane homes

As the fingers hovered over the title, a collective gasp was heard  and excitement buzzed throughout the minds of the fandom.

Since the release of its first  book in 2007, the young-adult fantasy book series The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare has reached global success and has been printed in over thirty-four languages. In 2013, the first book was adapted into a movie which was titled The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones.

It was announced in 2015 that ABC Family would make a T.V series of The Mortal Instruments titled Shadowhunters directed by McG. McG who is also known by the name Joseph McGinty Nichols has directed movies like Charlie’s Angels and The Duff and produced TV shows like Supernatural.

The first season which follows the first book of the series, The City of Bones, will tell the story of Clary Fray as she discovers she actually comes from line of half-human and half-angel beings, shadowhunters, and belongs to a world of faeries, vampires, demons, werewolves, and warlocks.

As of  May 19th 2015, the main characters of the series has been cast. Clary Fray played by Katherine McNamara,Jace Wayland played by Dominic Sherwood,  Simon Lewis played by Alberto Rosende, Alec Lightwood played by Matthew Daddario, Isabelle Lightwood played by Emeraunde Toubia, Luke Garroway played by Isiah Mustafa, Jocelyn Fray played by Maxim Roy, Magnus Bane played by Harry Shum Jr., and Valentine Morgernstern played by Alan Van Sprang.

The show was stated to be a 13 episode season with each season representing one book of the book series. It was also revealed that a second season was not definite as each season will made by judging the popularity of the series.

Although there is no specific date for the airing of the first episode, it was confirmed that Shadowhunters will air at the beginning of 2016.
