“I don’t really pay attention to college sports but I really care about March Madness,” junior Sebastian Pardo said.

The major appeal of this tournament is making brackets and competing with peers.

“My bracket last year was the best in the whole school last year, but I honestly don’t know anything about college basketball. I predicted the final four accurately which was a percentage that was lower than 0.1 percent,” senior Eric Stein said.

As Stein just said, predicting the brackets accurately is nearly impossible, which is the madness. So many underdog wins occur, that experts have a hard time predicting how well teams would do.

“The accuracy of your bracket doesn’t reflect your knowledge of the sport nor the teams. It helps to know the sport and how good each team is but there’s so many variables sometimes guessing is the best option,” senior David Gartner said.

The best odds of predicting a perfect bracket is 1 in 128 billion, and the lowest is 1 in 9.2 quintillion. Fascinated by these odds, billionaire Warren Buffet used to put up a guarantee billion dollars to someone who got a perfect bracket.
