Progress reports increase students’ grade

The first quarter is about to end. The final grade for the quarter will be sent home, and some students have no idea what their grades are. So

me teachers send out progress reports before the quarter ends so that students can be aware of their grades and do extra work if needed. Progress reports are necessary, and teachers should send them out to students before the quarter ends.

Not all teachers send out progress reports to their students. Then, students never know how they are doing in class and what they are missing. Even though teachers give only half credit for late work, it certainly is helpful to improve a student’s grade.

Moreover, sometimes teachers make mistakes and put different scores on the grade sheet for either assignments or assessments. The only way for students to know that their scores are reported incorrectly is by looking at the progress report. If students find out that mistake after the quarter ends, the process of changing a grade becomes much more complicated and difficult than changing it on the progress report before the quarter has ended.

Another importance of progress reports is that those grades are not for parents, but for students. It is not right if students do not know their grades and how they are doing in class, while parents know everything. For things that are happening in school, especially grades, informing students is the first priority.

All teachers certainly should send out progress reports at least twice a quarter, one before the interim and the other before the end of the quarter. However, students are also responsible for knowing their grades so that if teachers do not give progress reports, students should be asking their teachers about the grades. Both teachers and students need to care more about grades and find out what is the most effective thing to do in order to improve those grades.
