Big Hero 6 warms hearts of viewers of all ages

Big+Hero+6+warms+hearts+of+viewers+of+all+ages

The first Disney motion picture film to feature Marvel Comics characters, Big Hero 6 tells the story of 14-year-old robotics genius, Hiro Hamada and his inflated companion, Baymax as they live in the fictual metropolitan city of San Fransokyo. They, along with other prodigies like Hiro, implement super hero powers to defeat the evil force that plans to destruct San Fransokyo and their world forever.

One of the biggest concerns I had prior to watching this movie was that I was afraid that Disney might completely change the meaning of the movie and not live up to peoples’ expectations. Contrary to my expectations, Big Hero 6 blew me away, with its enjoyable plot that teaches a life lesson to all viewers regardless of age.

One of the aspects that made this movie charming was its well written plot with the development of the main character that was relatable to viewers. Initially rebellious, Hiro becomes more levelheaded through the trials and errors he faces and through the guidance of Baymax as his mentor. Although he stumbles sometimes as his anger overtakes him, through the help of his friends, he is able to get back on his feet, realizing what is most important.

However, development of other characters were lacking in the movie. Although, Hiro’s friends accompany to defeat the movie’s villain and are even part of the superhero team, there is not much depth to them. It would have been nice to see a snippet of the movie in their perspective rather than Hiro’s all the time. As a result, it was difficult to see what importance these supporting characters had to the overall plot.

Another positive thing about the movie were the graphics. Requiring 103 animators, the team used the help of karate to animate Baymax’s martial arts movements in the movie. The graphics of San Fransokyo were also based from San Francisco as the team extrapolated data to recreate a realistic city and include the feeling of size, depth, and three dimensionality.

Big Hero 6 is a fast paced, warmhearted movie that can relate to all audiences. Its graphics were not lacking and provided the viewer a strong visual. I would rate this movie five out of five stars, so be sure to check out Big Hero 6 sometime soon.
