“The Edge of Seventeen” is extremely relatable, heart-wrenching, and showcases the many struggles of girls in high school.

While heavily sympathetic to the average high schooler, this movies also touches on the long term emotional and mental effects of losing a loved one at a young age, finding love in high school, and losing close friends.

Hailee Steinfeld beautifully portrayed how hard growing up is and the effects of trying to grow up too fast. Since the movie takes place in 2016, it’s only normal that Nadine makes the mistake of sending a lucrative text, over a social media platform, in the hopes of solidifying her path into “womanhood” and the possibility of getting over her brother dating her best friend.

Craig captivated the audience by keeping the movie lively and exciting, but also twisted the plot into a more honest depiction of life in high school, and during the twenty-first century.
