Participants of Best Buddies hang out and play with students in the special education program. Usually meets once a month on Thursdays after school to build friendships and have fun.

During these events, members play games and eat lots of food while building friendships.

“We usually have snacks like chips, and there are many activities for ‘my kids’ to play with,”special education teacher Mark Thompson said.

Thompson believes that this club affects McLean High school in a positive way.

“I believe this club does impact McLean; it provides many friendships and fun, and also shows these students that everyone, no matter what, aren’t that different,” Thompson said.

Thompson also mentioned some upcoming events for Best Buddies.

“There will be a meeting sometime during October, where you get paired up with one of ‘my kids’ and play some games. It’s basically a place where you can hang out,” Thompson said.
