Dogs at lunch relieve student stress

Therapy Dogs International brings dogs during student lunches

Today in all lunches students were given the opportunity to go visit dogs in the hallway near the cafeteria. The dog day was organized and implemented through Therapy Dogs International, a volunteer institution that provides dogs for de-stressing and therapeutic purposes.

“Mrs. Werfel contacted us about a year and a half ago about de-stressing, so we answered the call,” TDI volunteer Judy Sherman said. “This is, I think, our fourth visit.”

Several students stopped by during each lunch period to greet the dogs and pet them, as did many teachers.

“I really look forward to this day every year, it’s a really fun thing,” senior Anna Duval said.

About six owners came in with their dogs, and most have been coming for more than one year.

“We like coming, and Ms. Werfel organizes a really nice event,” Sherman said.
