MTV Movie Awards 2015 Recap

MTV+Movie+Awards+2015+Recap

On Sunday, April 12, the annual MTV Movie Awards aired at 8/7c on, you guessed it, MTV. Amy Schumer made her hosting debut, and it’s clear she needs a bit more practice. Like all other “viewers-pick-the-winners” award shows, the voting was dominated by tweens and teens. This year’s show was forgettable to say the least. Despite moving the award show back to 8 PM in an attempt to increase viewership, it has been reported that this year’s MTV Movie Awards took a major rating and viewership tumble attracting about half as many viewers as last year (2.84 million in 2014 to 1.55 million in 2015). The poor viewership can be attributed to the lack of mega-celebrity presence, poor advertising, and/or the jejune and very much expected nominations.

The Fault in Our Stars along with its individual cast members took home a majority of the awards (shocker) and everything else about the night was less than memorable. Here’s to hoping they’ll do better next year, but it seems as if this sub-genre of award shows is on a perpetual downward spiral.

Here is a list of all the night’s winners:
