For McLean’s students with special needs, the Fanfest basketball game is a unique opportunity to experience the thrills of high school sports and star on the court in front of a raucous crowd. This year’s event matched the Highlanders with the Oakton Cougars on March 18, drawing a large crowd of McLean students to cheer on their fellow classmates.

While the Highlanders triumphed in terms of score, it was clear that the players from both sides enjoyed the opportunity to showcase their basketball skills and hear the crowd cheering them on.

“That was one of the best basketball games I’d ever been to,” said senior Jon Clayton, “seeing how happy and excited all the players were just made the entire atmosphere so incredible. I’m glad those kids got to have such a fun experience like that, they’re all great kids.”
