I. Why is physics your subject of choice?
When I was in high school, math was definitely my big strong point, and I didn’t really learn to love science until college. But the big difference between physics and math is that physics is real world applications of math, and that’s why I really appreciate physics.
II. What were your past teaching experiences like?
I’ve taught in Pittsburgh and I’ve also taught in Mexico City; those were both really great. So far, McLean and Fairfax County in general have gone above and beyond my expectations.
III. If you were an animal, which animal would you be?
I don’t necessarily believe in the horoscopes, but I have a lot of similarities with my zodiac sign. I’m a Leo, and my birthday is in August. I’ve been told I’m a very typical Leo, so I would be a lion.
IV. If you could have one wish, what would you wish for?
I wish I had more time in the day because I love to learn new things. The only thing that really stops me is that the day is so short.
V. What’s your favorite childhood memory?
Okay, I’m gonna geek out right now, but the first thing that comes into mind is from 4th grade. I was in the laundromat with my mother and was coming up with some algebraic proof of the Pythagorean theorem. It was a very cool moment for me. It solidified that math was that something that I was really good at.
VI. What is your favorite dessert?
I love chocolate. Anything chocolate, except maybe ice cream.
VII. What did you do this summer?
I went to New York City to visit a friend and took aerial classes where you’re suspended from the ceiling with silk ribbons and wrapping yourself up in them. That was really fun.
VIII. What is the craziest thing you’ve ever done?
Aside from hanging on the ceiling from silk ribbons? I don’t know… When I was 18, I decided to go to college in Spain by myself. I started classes not knowing anybody and just going abroad.
IX. What’s your favorite music?
I really love dubstep right now, and also a lot of chill indie music. When you’re in my class, you’ll hear me playing some music that I like while you are doing classwork.
X. Do you have any interesting hobbies?
I really love salsa dancing! I was a competitive ballroom dancer in college, and I also have a passion for origami. At one point, you may see different origami models popping up in my classroom.
